The Newton County Auditor’s Office is accepting applications to fill the position of Deputy Auditor. Qualified applicants should have obtained at minimum a high school diploma or GED, work well with numbers and possess basic office skills. Customer service skills are required and you must work well work others. Duties include, but are not limited to, typing, filing, answering phone calls as well as walk-up customer service, operating basic office equipment and data entry. Job Type: Full-time Deputy Auditor
Duties:
· Receives and audits claims, verifies account and it balances;
· Monitors budgets, audits monthly claims and expenditures complies annual financial reports;
· Assist the public with property records and forms;
· Receives and verifies deeds, records transfers, make changes in plat books and on computer; Maintains appropriate record for Auditor’s file;
· Receipts monies into appropriate County funds;
· Composes and types correspondence and prepares and copies all memos and handouts for County;
· Answer telephone, assist and greet persons at the service counter
· Monitor funds and assures proper and accurate appropriation for funds;
· Prepares a variety of statistic and financial reports, including Census reports, surveys and grant reports;
· Performs related duties and/or the duties of other Deputies.
Requirements:
· High school diploma or GED.
· Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect.
· Knowledge of standard bookkeeping practices and procedures; Knowledge of all rules and regulations.
· Ability to accurately maintain and update Department files.
· Ability to effectively perform all essential functions of the position.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality, consistently comply with Departmental policies, perform arithmetic functions, calculate taxes, operate standard office equipment, Excel, and work as a team member.
