What are the responsibilities and job description for the Founding Ambassador position at Newsreel?
Newsreel is a pre-seed startup redefining how the next generation learns about themselves and the world. If you believe that social media has broken the way our generation pays attention — and it’s on us to build something better — you’ll fit right in.
We’re assembling a small, highly motivated cohort of founding ambassadors across the country who want to help build a movement from the ground up.
As a founding ambassador, your mission is simple: spark a student-led movement on your campus.
That starts peer-to-peer — hosting events, creating buzz, building community, and making Newsreel part of the campus culture. Once the student momentum is real, you’ll help open doors to faculty, student media, and academic partners who can amplify the impact.
You won’t wait for instructions. You’ll help write the playbook. You’ll test ideas, run events, form clubs, mobilize friends, and turn Newsreel into a living presence on your campus — not just another app.
Newsreel is led by a small team of builders, journalists, and creators who’ve spent years studying how attention spans, digital overload, and social platforms have reshaped how young people understand the world.
Our founder — a Fulbright scholar, Forbes 30 Under 30 recipient, and journalist — built Newsreel after seeing firsthand how traditional news formats were failing Gen Z. Our early team includes former Forbes editors, startup engineers, educators, and student collaborators across the country.
We’re backed by campuses already piloting Newsreel, early institutional partners, and a mission to rebuild what the internet broke: how we learn, think, and stay informed.
This is your chance to shape that mission from the beginning.
Peer-to-Peer Growth
- Host high-energy campus events.
- Create viral download loops and referral momentum.
- Build a Newsreel community through your own network and student orgs.
- Represent Newsreel on campus with energy, creativity, and ownership.
Academic & Media Amplification
- Once demand is real, connect with professors, student journalists, and clubs.
- Launch or lead an official Newsreel club.
- Coordinate journalist Q&As or newsroom workshops.
Movement Building
- Share ideas with other ambassadors nationwide.
- Help test the strategies that will shape Newsreel’s national rollout.
- Directly influence features, events, and messaging.
- Are proactive, entrepreneurial, and energized by starting things.
- Love bringing people together and creating campus experiences.
- Care about the future of news, civics, and how our generation pays attention.
- Want real startup experience...building something from scratch, not following a script.
- Can commit to light but consistent movement-building throughout the semester.
This is an unpaid founding ambassador role with commission opportunities if your outreach leads to an official institutional partnership.
