Lead Electrical Engineer (Spacecraft / NewSpace)

Are you an Electrical or Avionics Engineer with strong experience developing spaceflight hardware, looking to lead the architecture and delivery of next-generation spacecraft systems?
On offer is the opportunity to join a pioneering NewSpace company developing the technologies required to support long-term human presence on the Moon and Mars. You’ll take ownership of avionics systems across multiple product lines, leading the design, integration, qualification, and delivery of mission-critical hardware supporting advanced robotic and space systems.
Join a team building cutting-edge technologies for lunar infrastructure, power systems, communications, and autonomous operations. You’ll lead a multidisciplinary avionics function working across motion control, compute, power management, sensors, and communications hardware, driving full lifecycle ownership from concept through to flight qualification and operations.
This position would suit a hands-on electrical engineering leader who enjoys combining deep technical expertise with system-level ownership, team leadership, and fast-paced hardware development.
Key Responsibilities
• Define system architecture, interfaces, and requirements across spacecraft avionics systems
• Lead the design, analysis, integration, and qualification of avionics hardware across multiple programmes
• Determine qualification and environmental testing requirements in line with spaceflight standards
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship across avionics development activities
• Collaborate closely with software, mechanical, and systems teams to achieve integration milestones
• Manage technical, operational, and programme risks across the avionics function
• Support development of motion control, communications, compute, instrumentation, and power systems
• Drive delivery of reliable, flight-ready electrical hardware in fast-paced development environments
Essential Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical discipline
• 5 years of experience developing avionics or electrical systems for spacecraft or spaceflight applications
• Strong experience with EDA tools such as Altium or equivalent
• Familiarity with communications protocols, sensors/instrumentation, and power electronics
• Experience owning hardware through design, integration, testing, and qualification
• Strong communication skills and ability to operate in high-performance engineering teams
• Ability to lead technical decision-making in fast-moving development programmes
