NewScripts Pharmacy is one of New Mexico's largest independent long-term care pharmacies, dedicated to providing exceptional service and clinical support to skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, hospice providers, and other healthcare partners throughout the state.
We are seeking an experienced Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our team on an as-needed (PRN) basis. This position is ideal for someone looking for a flexible schedule while working in a fast-paced long-term care pharmacy environment. PRN technicians provide coverage for vacations, employee absences, increased workload, and other staffing needs.
Hours of Operation:
Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Position Summary
Working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician performs technical duties that support the medication dispensing process while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with all applicable regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Accurately fill prescription medications under pharmacist supervision.
- Enter new prescriptions and refill orders promptly and accurately.
- Package medications according to pharmacy procedures.
- Prepare daily medication orders accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all applicable federal and state regulations.
- Communicate professionally with pharmacists, nurses, healthcare providers, and facility staff.
- Assist with inventory control and other pharmacy operations as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active New Mexico Certified Pharmacy Technician license in good standing.
- Minimum one year of experience in a long-term care or hospital pharmacy preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, dependable, and flexible with scheduling.
- Insurance billing and claims experience is a plus.
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods during the workday.
- Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, and stooping.
- Ability to work additional hours when needed.
