Sales Internship Paid Winter/Spring 2026

The Networks of Mid-Missouri is accepting resumes for a paid broadcast/digital sales internship.

We offer real-world, hands-on experience with the goal of preparing sales candidates for full-time employment in our Columbia/Jefferson City, MO Sales Department. 

This Networks of Mid-Missouri sales internship is open to currently enrolled college/university juniors, seniors, and graduate students.  Preference will be given to students who plan to live and work in the Columbia/Jefferson City, MO area or one of the other 9 News-Press and Gazette broadcast markets: http://npgco.com

Eligibility requirements:

• Intern candidates must be currently enrolled in Communications, Marketing, Broadcast Sales, English, a Professional Sales program, or a related field.
• Must be available to work up to 40 hours per week for a 12-week period between the months of January through May; days and hours will vary to coincide with college schedule.
• Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Must be self-motivated, able to work under pressure and be passionate about interacting with all levels of people both inside and outside the organization.

Duties include working alongside experienced sales executives and managers in a supportive environment to develop the essential skills to become a Solution based Marketing Consultant to local companies for their television and digital advertising needs.

We offer a competitive hourly wage; interns are not eligible for insurance benefits, holiday pay or PTO; internship employment is contingent upon the successful outcome of a background check and drug screening.  Candidates will need to have a current driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation, as well as being sufficiently mobile to allow for business travel.

Job Title:         Broadcast/Digital Sales Intern

Status:             Non-exempt

Essential Duties:

• Engage with other departments in Television station
• Assist Local Account Executives with preparation of presentations
• Help schedule appointments for Local AE’s or Sales Managers
• Assist local and national sales assistants with paperwork and other daily functions
• Learn and review the functions of all copiers, printers and other work area machines
• Read all daily/weekly/ monthly periodicals for industry information
• Ride Along’s with Local Account Executives to visit customers
• Work directly with Traffic Manager and other traffic employees to understand Wideorbit
• Work directly with Commercial Producers to understand Script writing
• Work directly with Commercial Producers to understand all steps and procedures required to shoot, edit and finalize commercials for air.
• Work with Local Sales Manager to schedule use of appropriate training materials and videos
• Work with IMC (where available) to better understand all Digital Sales Efforts
• Correspond with External customers as needed
• Other duties as required by Sales Management

• Preference will be given to students engaged in an Accredited Internship course, but not mandatory
