KTVZ News is seeking an Assistant News Director to help lead the day-to-day operations of our award-winning newsroom.
This role requires a dynamic, forward-thinking leader who will drive daily content, guide coverage decisions, and ensure strong breaking and developing news coverage.
The ideal candidate is an experienced journalist with a passion for storytelling and investigative reporting, capable of working closely with reporters on story development while collaborating with producers to create compelling, standout newscasts.
This position demands strong leadership, sound news judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in high-pressure situations with composure.
The Assistant News Director will lead by example, fostering a positive newsroom culture while coaching, mentoring, and inspiring staff at all levels, in close partnership with the News Director.
Candidates must have at least two years of broadcast newsroom experience, including one year in a leadership role, along with a solid understanding of media ethics and legal standards.
Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and a solutions-oriented mindset are essential.
This role also requires flexibility, including being on call as needed and the ability to adjust schedules to accommodate breaking news and coverage demands across mornings, evenings, and weekends.

We do require a valid Oregon driver’s license or the ability to obtain one, as you will be responsible for driving our news vehicles.
