What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ramp Lead Safety Coordinator position at Newrest?
The Ramp Safety Lead Coordinator is a key member of the SafetyDepartment, responsible for supporting a robust Safety Management System (SMS).The incumbent monitors, analyzes, and reports on all potential safety hazardsand processes to ensure that Newrest IAH Houston’s practices comply withfederal, state, and local regulations, as well as the Newrest Ramp OperationsManual and Newrest SOPs. The incumbent also supports departmental safetyinitiatives across all modes that align with Newrest’s key performanceindicators, as specified in the Newrest Ramp Compliance Manual. This role mayrequire availability 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

- Provides day-to-day guidance and tools toensure that safety auditing and inspection activities identify root causes andcontributing factors, and that corrective actions are completed in a timelymanner.
- Under the supervision of the Sr. SafetyManager, provides guidance and oversight of Newrest IAH–Houston’s RiskManagement Leading and Lagging Indicators.
- Assists in conducting and facilitatingoperational Safety Assurance inspections and audits to determine Newrest RampSafety compliance and progress with operational safety processes.
- Performs field inspections and audits ofdepartmental practices and operations, evaluating regulatory compliance toassess Newrest IAH–Houston’s adherence to applicable standards.
- Participates in Safety Committees and otherworking groups, providing safety-related technical assistance to alldepartments and supporting Newrest Houston’s safety risk management whilepromoting aspects of the Ramp Operational Manual.
- Participates and assists departments toensure deficiencies identified by safety assessments are tracked and corrected,and that risks are mitigated and managed to protect employees and ramp safety.
- Assists in leading response efforts toemergencies on the ramp and performs other assignments as requested.
- Regularly targeted audits as requested bymanagement.
- Good knowledgeof HACCP.
- Follow allfood safety, health and safety, company rules and standards.
- Regular andtimely attendance is expected for the position.
- Performs all other duties as assigned basedon operational needs.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Vocational or technical training in safety riskmanagement and/or four (4) years of safety auditing, inspecting or complianceadministration experience is preferred.
- 3-5 years’ experience in overall safety procedures,preferably in manufacturing environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain andmaintain SIDA Badge maintained for the duration of time in position.
