We are excited to be preparing for the increase of flights into London Gatwick, as a result of the recent government announcements relating to travel to and from the UK.
General Assistants work in a team and work well under pressure and in new environments on a daily basis. All staff will be required to work in all areas of the business, bond store, equipment pack, dishwash, production, warehouse and despatch.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
Bond Store - Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- To check all products prior to packing.
- To ensure all airline products are packed / loaded to specification.
- Pack carts to the required standard and in accordance with passenger numbers.
- Ensuring stock levels are maintained to the required levels.
- Stock is rotated to get maximum shelf life.
- Compliance to HMRC regulations.
- Adhere to inflight services security compliance.
- Ensuring production schedules are met.
- Adhere to clean as you go standard.
- Adhere to COVID19 measures.
- Record, report breakages i.e. china, glass.
- Carry out final search and screening function.
Cleaning - Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- To clean each area of the unit in accordance to the cleaning schedule.
- Manage chemical to ensure the correct dosage is used.
- Ensure all chemicals are kept locked in the chemical cupboard when not in use.
- Cleaning up any spills immediately to avoid slips.
- Always put out the correct signage to inform staff of cleaning and the potential risk.
- Ensure each area of the unit has a monthly deep clean in accordance with the cleaning schedule.
- Ensure timely replenishment of food hygiene items i.e. hairnets, beard snoods, hand wash soap, sanitizers.
- Adhere to clean as you go standard.
- Adhere to COVID19 measures.
- Adhere to inflight services security compliance.
- Carry out final search and screening function.
Dish Wash - Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- To dispose of all waste in the appropriate equipment provided.
- Load catering equipment into the machine as per training.
- Ensure wash machine is running to temperature.
- Make sure the machine is dosing chemicals as per guidelines.
- After washing check equipment for damage and cleanliness.
- Record, report breakages i.e. china, glass.
- Ensure supplier demands are met on equipment requirements.
- Clean airline equipment as per customer requirements.
- Adhere to clean as you go standard.
- Adhere to COVID19 measures.
- Carry out final search and screening function.
- Adhere to inflight services security compliance.
Production/Kitchen - Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- To ensure all airline products are to specification.
- To ensure and check all products are supplied to relevant departments in an organised manner packed into the appropriate equipment ready for use/dispatching to aircraft.
- Pack carts/ Production trollies to the required standard and in accordance with passenger volumes.
- Ensuring stock levels are maintained to the required levels and organised as per production schedule.
- Rotate stock is rotated to get maximum shelf life.
- Record, report food wastage.
- Record, report breakages i.e. china, glass.
- Ensure production schedules are met.
- Support other departments and teams when and where required to maintain production/dispatch schedule.
- All products meet the required standard before leaving the unit.
- Adhere to clean as you go standard.
- Adhere to COVID19 measures.
- Carry out final search and screening function.
- Adhere to inflight services security compliance.
Warehouse/Good In - Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- To check all products when receiving delivery for quality, quantity, date and temperature.
- Ensuring it is put into the correct warehouse or departmental location.
- Ensuring stock levels are maintained.
- Stock is rotated to get maximum shelf life both in the warehouse and in the unit.
- Carrying out accurate weekly stock count for ordering.
- Ensuring COSHH and HACCP, are adhered to at all times.
- Adhere to inflight services security compliance.
- All safety checks are done prior to using the forklift to ensure it is safe to use.
- Adhere to clean as you go standard.
- Adhere to COVID19 measures.
- Record, report food wastage.
- Record, report breakages i.e. china, glass.
- Carry out final search and screening function.
Skills and Knowledge
- Minimum 1 years’ experience in catering (desirable).
- Excellent communication skills, with a customer centred approach to service delivery.
- Good literacy skills.
- Customer service focus.
- Good team work skills.
- Operational awareness, understand of HACCP, COSHH, DDA, Food Hygiene, Health and Safety and DFT requirements. (role specific).
- Fork lift driving duties (if applicable).
- Self-motivation, commitment and enthusiasm and the ability to work calmly under pressure.
- Interact with, colleagues, customers and clients in a professional manner at all times.
- Any other duties as requested by your manager.
CONTRACT: Full-time, Permanent, Starting as soon as possible.
LOCATION: London Gatwick - Crawley.
SALARY: £9.82 per hour.
BENEFITS: Parking on site, meals provided whilst on duty, full uniform and PPE provided.
