Newport Osteopractic Physical Therapy is seeking a motivated, compassionate, and patient-focused Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our growing outpatient orthopedic practice on a PRN (as-needed) basis. This position offers flexibility while providing the opportunity to work alongside experienced clinicians who are dedicated to delivering exceptional one-on-one patient care using evidence-based treatment techniques.

Position Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide high-quality outpatient rehabilitation services. The PTA implements treatment plans, monitors patient progress, documents care accurately, and contributes to a positive patient experience while maintaining professional and ethical standards.
Essential Responsibilities
- Implement individualized treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Provide therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, therapeutic activities, gait training, balance training, manual therapy (within PTA scope of practice), and appropriate physical agents/modalities.
- Monitor patient response to treatment and communicate progress or concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Accurately document all patient treatments and progress in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding home exercise programs and proper body mechanics.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized treatment environment.
- Assist with patient flow and clinic efficiency.
- Ensure treatment areas and equipment are cleaned and sanitized between patients.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate professionally with physicians, coworkers, patients, and family members.
- Assist with community outreach and marketing events as opportunities arise.
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Perform other clinical duties as assigned to support quality patient care.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current North Carolina Physical Therapist Assistant license in good standing.
- Must be able to see up to 11 patients per 8-hour day. Must be computer literate.
- Previous outpatient orthopedic experience preferred but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Comfortable using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service and patient-centered care.
