Role Description This full-time Manufacturing Engineer role is an on-site position located in Goose Creek, SC. The Manufacturing Engineer will develop and optimize manufacturing processes for shipbuilding and related components, focusing on safety, quality, cost, and schedule adherence. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating and updating process documentation, routings, and work instructions; supporting production teams on the shop floor; troubleshooting manufacturing issues; and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. The role will collaborate closely with engineering, planning, quality, and operations to ensure effective use of materials, tooling, and equipment, and to support new product introductions and process changes. The Manufacturing Engineer will also analyze production data, recommend process improvements, and help ensure compliance with applicable standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in manufacturing process development, process optimization, and continuous improvement.
- Experience with production planning, routings, work instructions, and documentation control in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards, and translate them into practical manufacturing methods.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools and basic statistics to evaluate process performance and support problem-solving.
- Strong collaboration skills for working with production, engineering, quality, and other cross-functional teams on-site.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear documentation and communication of process changes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Experience in shipbuilding, marine, heavy industrial, or defense manufacturing environments is beneficial.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other structured continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Ability to work safely in an industrial setting and comply with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
