What You’ll Do as a Deputy Sheriff

No two days are the same—and that’s what makes it exciting.

As a Deputy Sheriff, you may:

• Supervise and ensure the safety of inmates
• Process and classify inmates entering the jail
• Maintain order and security in courtrooms as a bailiff
• Transport inmates securely and professionally
• Serve civil process and court orders
• Conduct searches and inspections to maintain facility security
• Monitor jail operations through control systems and cameras
• Assist with emergency response, first aid, and CPR
• Participate in community outreach and public safety programs
• Support fellow deputies and staff during critical incidents

You’ll rotate through assignments including jail operations, court services, civil process, and special duties—giving you broad experience and room to grow.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a citizen of the United States.
• Requires an acceptable background check and acceptable credit check.
• Meet all federal, state and local requirements to carry a firearm.
• Have never been dishonorably discharged from any of the armed forces of the United States.
• Requires a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
• Have a High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
