Instructional Paraprofessional Middle School Math - Full Time / Temp Position

Instructional Paraprofessional We are seeking a dedicated and engaging Instructional Paraeducator to join our middle school team. In this role, you will work closely with a certified middle school mathematics teacher to provide targeted instructional support, facilitate small-group math interventions, and maintain an inclusive, organized, and positive classroom learning environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable with middle school math concepts, excels at building positive relationships with young adolescents, and brings proactive energy to classroom management and student engagement. Key Responsibilities Instructional Support •Deliver whole class, small-group, and one-on-one math instruction using lessons, materials, and strategies planned by the certified teacher. •Assist students in understanding core middle school math concepts (e.g., ratios, proportions, pre-algebra, basic geometry, and rational numbers). •Adapt instructional pacing and scaffolds during class activities to support diverse learning styles, including English Learners and students with IEPs or 504 plans. •Monitor student independent practice, clarify instructions, and offer immediate feedback and encouragement. Classroom Management & Culture •Maintain a structured, positive, and predictable learning environment. •Proactively monitor student behavior, reinforce positive behavioral interventions and expectations (PBIS), and assist with redirecting off-task behaviors. •Support smooth transitions between whole-group instruction, group work, and independent study time. •Manage classroom logistics, seating arrangements, and equipment/technology use. Student Progress & Collaboration •Track student daily progress, record instructional data, and share observations regularly with the supervising teacher. •Participate in instructional planning meetings and student support check-ins as requested. •Assist in prepping class materials, manipulatives, digital tools, and assignment stations. Qualifications & Requirements •Education: High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment preferred (or willing to obtain based on district guidelines). •Mathematics Proficiency: Strong command of foundational middle school math concepts. •Experience: Previous experience working with middle school-aged youth, in a classroom setting, tutoring, or youth mentorship preferred. •Interpersonal Skills: Outstanding communication, patience, active listening, and a passion for supporting young adolescent learners. •Technology: Familiarity with educational technology tools (e.g., Google Classroom, online math software, interactive boards). Physical Requirements & Working Conditions •Ability to move around the classroom frequently to monitor student work and assist students at their desks. •Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (classroom supplies, instructional materials) occasionally.
