What are the responsibilities and job description for the Newport Aquarium House and Grounds (Janitor) Host - Second Shift Part-Time position at Newport Aquarium?
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the overall cleanliness of Newport Aquarium by completing daily checklists and cleaning tasks
- Contribute to overall building maintenance both during operation and after hours
- Proactively find ways to better the overall Guest Experience
- Engage guests with animal facts, information, and personal connections through interpretation
- Daily garbage, recycling, and compost disposal
- Deep cleans using specified machines (pressure washer, carper extractor, hard floor scrubber, etc.)
- Fulfill House and Grounds duties during after-hours Events
- Additional cleaning and maintenance tasks assigned by the House and Grounds Lead and/or Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 18 years old or older
- Previous experience in facilities cleaning desired
- Willingness to become Bloodborne Pathogens trained
- Knowledge of aquatic life a plus
- Friendly, outgoing and proactive approach
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to work with little to no supervision while remaining motivated and on task
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends, holidays, and evenings
- Ability to work between 4:00pm and 2:00am required (Second Shift role)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check
- In good health and capable of performing strenuous and/or heavy physical labor
- No history of allergy related to animals or plants, which might interfere with ability to work
- Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time, climb stairs, bend and stoop
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- No impairment of sight, smell, hearing, touch, balance and agility of movement which might interfere with ability to work
- Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Immunocompetence (possible exposure to infections and parasitic disease)
