Description
This position reports to the General Sales Manager and plays a vital role in growing private event revenue, building community relationships, and expanding our sales pipeline. A high volume of phone work, superior communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are essential.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet and exceed quarterly and annual event revenue goals
- Proactively identify and pursue new event business opportunities through outbound sales efforts that include: prospecting, cold calling, and networking
- Drive event revenue growth through sales call initiatives and client management
- Sell unique, memorable and fun events to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction
- Maximize revenue through up-selling, creative event planning, and suggestive selling
- Conduct inside and outside sales calls, including client tours
- Build, maintain, and convert a robust sales pipeline
- Maintain accurate and organized sales activity records in CRM systems
- Understand and track market and sales trends
- Respond to all event inquiries (online and phone) within one business day
- Foster strong client relationships to maximize retention and referrals
- Attend, network, and give presentations at wedding shows and other community activities to promote the business
- Prepare event contracts and proposals
- Assist with the planning and execution of spring/fall wedding shows held on-site
- Assist with the planning and execution of annual corporate open house held on-site
- Know and keep records on the competition, their products, prices, and selling strategies
- Communicate regularly and effectively with sales team and other internal departments
- Attend and actively contribute to weekly sales meeting
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent experience required
- Minimum of 2 years of event or hospitality selling experience
- Previous experience working events desired
- Solid analytical skills
- Successful track record in problem solving and negotiation skills, with special emphasis on closing the sale
- Must be a team player, with a high level of dedication ready to help whenever and wherever needed
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, with focused attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements
- Solid skills and previous experience with web-based contact management programs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Outlook and Excel)
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check
- Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Immunocompetence (possible exposure to infections and parasitic disease).
- Starting pay range: $43,000 to $65,000
- Eligible for sales performance incentive program; up to 20% of salary rate
