What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underwriting Analyst position at NewPoint Real Estate Capital LLC?
The Underwriting Analyst position will be a vital part of the company’s ability to quickly evaluate and process new business, specifically loans to acquire or refinance multifamily and mixed-used projects. Must be an aggressive self-starter, with highly advanced Excel skills, who can provide analytical and project-related support by quickly analyzing transactions and preparing proposals to provide multi-million dollar loans to owners and developers of multifamily and mixed-use projects throughout the United States. This role involves analyzing property performance, market conditions, borrower financials and compliance with agency guidelines. The analyst works closely with senior underwriters, production teams, and third-party vendors to ensure timely and accurate execution of transactions.
Duties and responsibilities
- Support underwriters (including Deputy Chief Underwriter and Chief Underwriter) in all aspects of deal processing.
- Assist in conducting initial research regarding the strengths and weakness of apartment markets by analyzing financial statements.
- Input a property’s specific financial information into our proprietary Excel workbooks and assist in evaluating property operations and performance in terms of occupancy, net income, and debt service coverage.
- Assist in the collection and review of all loan due diligence materials, including borrower and property financial statements.
- Assist in the coordination of site inspections. May be required to periodically attend and assist Underwriters in the completion of lease audits and other inspection related tasks.
- Evaluate property operations and performance in terms of occupancy, net income, and debt service coverage.
- Work with underwriter/senior underwriter in preparing underwriting narratives and credit memos for internal and agency approval.
- Analyze and evaluate borrower financial statements and schedule of real estate owned.
- Run credit reports and identify any potential issues in the reports.
- Assess market conditions and property-level risks to determine creditworthiness.
- Must be able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Perform other financial and/or administrative tasks, as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Real Estate.
- Strong interest in real estate, lending, and financial analysis.
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with Outlook, Adobe Reader, Power Point, and Internet search engines.
- Ability to conduct research and verify facts quickly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize conclusions.
- Ability to travel occasionally.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to multi-task.
- Knowledge of cash flow analysis and exposure to commercial real estate preferred.
- Adhere to NewPoint’s policies and exhibit proficiency and understanding of NewPoint’s Values and position-specific skills.
Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
