Job Summary
Newman Garage Doors is looking for a dependable and hardworking Garage Door Installer / Technician to join our team. In this role, you will install, repair, and service residential and/or commercial garage doors and openers. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and comfortable working with tools and interacting with customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, replace, and adjust garage doors, tracks, springs, and openers
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues and complete repairs
- Perform safety inspections and operational testing (balance, sensors, force settings)
- Communicate clearly with customers and explain usage and maintenance
- Maintain tools, inventory, and clean job sites
- Complete service documentation using [paper forms / mobile app]
- Follow all company and OSHA safety standard
Qualifications (Required)
- 5 years’ experience installing or repairing garage doors OR related trade experience
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 75–100 lbs, work overhead, and use ladders safely
- Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with hand/power tools
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or in a team
- Comfort using power tools and ladders
- Strong customer service skills
- Professional attitude.
- Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-4:00 PM with potential Saturday and overtime work.
- Demonstrate safety and superior cleanliness on-site.
- Freedom to use your own tools.
- Ability to pass drug screen and a pre-employment physical.
Preferred Skills / Experience
- Knowledge of torsion springs, cable drums, rollers, and opener systems
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical or remote-control/sensor problems
- Experience working in residential service environments
Work Environment
- Work performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and lifting
- May require overtime and weekend work during peak demand
