The Assistant School Business Manager supports the CFO in overseeing the district's financial and business operations. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate financial records, managing the general ledger, ensuring compliance with state and federal Uniform Chart of Accounts (UCOA) requirements, and overseeing all funding sources, including local tax appropriations, state grants, and federal programs (e.g., Title I, IDEA). Financial Management & Reporting
- Assist in the preparation, administration, and monitoring of the annual district operating budget.
- Oversee daily operations of the Business Office, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Maintain and reconcile all district funds, including the General Fund, Special Revenue Funds, and Payroll accounts.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all journal entries, accruals, and reversals are accurate.
- Monitor cash flow and perform monthly bank reconciliations for all district accounts.
- Ensure strict adherence to internal controls for payroll, accounts payable, and student activity funds.
- Assist the CFO with the coordination of the annual external audit and prepare State Department of Education filings ED141 and EFS - Education Financial Report.
- Monitor grant expenditures and ensure compliance with federal (Uniform Guidance) and state regulations.
- Supervise and evaluate the clerical staff in the Business Office.
- Support the CFO in labor contract negotiations by providing cost analysis for salaries and benefits, including 401(k) and health insurance.
- Support the management of the district's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Tyler Technologies/School ERP Pro.

- Standard office environment with occasional attendance at evening Board of Education or Town Council meetings.
- Ability to visit multiple school facilities as needed.

- Exposure to video display terminals on a daily basis.
- Ability to hear normal sounds with some background noise and to communicate effectively.
- Ability to file letters, correspondence, reports, etc. in file cabinet drawers ranging from 1' to 5' from the floor.
The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required. Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Public Administration is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 35 years of experience, preferably in a municipal or school finance setting.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP, and experience with large-scale ERP systems.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to present complex financial data using visual aids for public presentations.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board) standards.
- Fiscal Transparency: Ability to present complex accounting data in a clear and understandable manner for public stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in managing a multi-million-dollar budget and ensuring all funds are legally accounted for.
- Integrity: Maintain the highest ethical standards when handling public tax dollars and sensitive payroll information.
- Adaptability: Ability to manage system transitions, such as software migrations, and adapt to changing state legislative mandates.

- Competitive salary commiserate on experience [Salary Range: $100,000-$145,000]
