Job Description:

Newgrange Design is currently a forty-five and growing person business that focuses on electronic hardware design. We are looking for the next great person to join our team. The quality of people on our team is the key to our success. We will train the new hire from the ground up. No prior experience in electronics is needed. We are looking for someone who is a great problem solver, has excellent attention to detail, and is hardworking, organized, friendly, energetic, eager to learn, and a team player.

We invest a lot of time and energy training each new hire. Our culture promotes receiving, and eventually delivering, ongoing training. This training will provide the fundamentals of the PCB design process (which is a hybrid between electrical and mechanical engineering that builds on the skill sets developed in the math and physics major). After some training, the PCB Design Assistant will:

  • Support the design process once training is complete on each qualified step
  • Create and check footprints according to IPC standards or some other variant
  • Develop CAD (Computer Aided Design) models
  • Interface with customers about questions on footprints
  • Setup basic rules in a design
  • Create Mechanical Setups
  • Gerber Setups

Once fully trained, the exciting, challenging, and always changing world of developing new electronic products opens up. Projects we work on are used in medicine, scientific research, alternative energy, consumer products, defense, and many other fields.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • BS or BA with a Math or Physics (or related) major
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail is crucial in this role
  • Fast learner, flexible, and a good problem solver
  • Good communication skills for internal and external interaction
  • Ability to speak and write clearly when describing complicated issues
  • Experience: This is an entry level position. We often hire recent college grads and/or those seeking to change careers or try a new field that have more work experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and/or Permanent U.S. Resident
