Architectural/CAD Drafter

Newco Design Build is an industry leading General Contractor that specializes in modern architecture and commercial construction. Newco self-performs a portion of our general trades/carpentry work to ensure quality and meet our client’s expectations to market. Newco was founded on the main principles of trust, teams, communication, and relationships.

The selected candidate will collaborate with the design team and senior leadership to create construction documents for clients in a variety of commercial industries. The candidate will also provide support to the construction teams through updates and clarifications to the construction documents throughout the construction process. The work primarily consists of 2D AutoCAD work, SketchUp modeling, Enscape rendering and Photoshop editing. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable working independently or collaborating within a group.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

• Use software to create and modify construction documents for use by co-workers, clients, and subcontractors. This will include full construction sets (floor plans, elevations, details, etc.), conceptual drawings and renderings
• Work closely with all people involved in the project, including clients, engineers and other consultants to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information.
• Self-check work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance to standards.
• May be responsible for some design elements. Provide professional opinions regarding design elements to create the right space for the client
• Work from drawings, sketches or scanned images, or client drawings.
• Work internally to maintain and improve drawing standards.
• Set personal expectations and goals for efficiency and accuracy without direct oversight.
• Occasional local travel to client offices or construction sites to gather information

Minimum Requirements:

· Associate degree or equivalent

· High proficiency with AutoCAD and SketchUp

· Experience with Photoshop and rendering software a plus

· 2 years of experience of architectural drafting experience.

· Capable of translating the needs and requests of clients and co-workers into the design.

· Flexibility in a face-paced, ever changing work environment with multiple individuals and deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time
