Anticipated-Pre-K Teacher

Newbury Elementary School is seeking a caring, energetic, and dedicated Pre-Kindergarten Teacher to join our school community. The successful candidate will create a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and developmental growth of young learners. Outdoor education and community based learning experiences are key components of our educational programming. Each week students take advantage of learning in our eleven acre forest school classroom. Area farms invite our students to learn and explore throughout the school year. We are proud to incorporate Project Wild, Trout in the Classroom and onsite composting & gardening into our instructional experiences for students. Responsibilities: Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with Vermont early learning standards Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment Support children’s social, emotional, language, and cognitive development through play-based and hands-on learning Assess student progress and maintain accurate records Build strong partnerships with families through regular communication Collaborate with school staff, support services, and administrators to meet student needs Maintain a safe and organized learning environment Incorporate outdoor education into the Pre-Kindergarten experience New teachers can expect a mentor with weekly meetings for the first year and into the second year if needed. In addition to mentoring, outside consultants work with teachers on self designed support. Newbury is able to also offer in house coaching in both math, literacy and behavior management. New teachers to NES are well supported for success. Newbury Elementary School is an outstanding place to work. We have low staff turnover - the average length of employment is 10 years. We are seeking collaborative, team players that enjoy working and learning with children. Newbury Elementary is located on the beautiful Newbury Common overlooking the Connecticut River. We’re thirty interstate miles north of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Dartmouth College, and a variety of shopping experiences. We’re near skiing, riding, hiking, biking, and kayaking. It’s an ideal location for nature enthusiasts. Salary Range: The anticipated annual salary for this role is $46,738 – $90,067, based on experience, level of education. Compensation is determined by the district’s collective bargaining agreement, which considers factors such as degree level and years of service.
