Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Spanish Bilingual Teacher role located in Newark, NJ. The Spanish Bilingual Teacher will plan and deliver standards-based instruction in both Spanish and English, supporting multilingual learners in core academic content and language development. Responsibilities include designing culturally responsive lessons, differentiating instruction, assessing student progress, and providing targeted interventions as needed. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to create inclusive classroom environments and implement school-wide initiatives. Additional duties include maintaining accurate records, participating in professional learning, and contributing to a positive school culture aligned with district goals.
Qualifications
MUST HAVE AN NJ BILINGUAL/BICULTURAL CERTIFICATE (SPANISH)
- Strong proficiency in spoken and written Spanish and English, with the ability to teach academic content in both languages.
- Demonstrated skills in lesson planning, classroom management, and differentiated instruction for multilingual and diverse learners.
- Experience using data to monitor student progress, adjust instruction, and support students’ social-emotional and academic growth.
- Ability to build respectful, collaborative relationships with students, families, and colleagues, and to communicate effectively across cultures.
- Knowledge of bilingual education practices, state standards, and evidence-based instructional strategies for English learners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; valid New Jersey teaching certification with appropriate bilingual or Spanish endorsement (or eligibility to obtain).
- Commitment to equity, high expectations for all students, and ongoing professional learning and reflection.
- Experience in urban school settings or with diverse student populations is preferred.
