Qualifications

  • Master's degree required in Student Support Services or educational administration/leadership.
  • New Jersey School Administrator Certificate (preferred).
  • New Jersey Principal Certificate.
  • New Jersey Student Support Services Certificate (preferred).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience as a principal or district administrator.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of successful experience in Student Support Services.
  • Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards for curriculum, assessment and instruction.
  • Knowledge of the CASEL SEL Framework for curriculum, assessment and instruction.
  • Knowledge of Mental Health & Wellness programming and counseling.
  • Knowledge of Crisis Intervention.
  • Knowledge of the ASCA National Model.
  • Knowledge of compliance, legal oversight, state/federal regulations, and programming re: Intervention & Referral Services, Section 504, Behavioral Threat Assessment, McKinney-Vento, HIB, Title IX, college and career readiness, and substance prevention, education and referrals.
  • Experience in the procurement process around Request for Proposals and Request for Quotes for student support programming and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student support services programming, tiered supports, effective counseling, and support services methods.
  • Implementation of grant goals and objectives related to multi-tiered disciplinary approaches to student support services.
  • Ability to create a District-level professional development program.
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status *As defined in N.J.A.C. 6A:9-9 Instructional certificates.
  • Perform other duties and tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Responsibilities

I. Management and Coaching of Instructional Staff

  • Observes, coaches, and evaluates School Counselors, School Social Workers, Student Assistance Coordinators, and District Supervisors, as well as provides ongoing professional development for targeted improvement in identified growth areas.
  • Provides constructive feedback to School Counselors, School Social Workers, Student Assistance Coordinators, Principals, Vice Principals, District Supervisors, and Department Chairs on the improvement of student achievement and effective implementation of the Student Support Services curricular programs.
  • Monitors all Teach NJ Educator Effectiveness activities (IPDP/CAP), observations, and evaluations of Student Support Services Supervisors, School Counselors, School Social Workers, and Student Assistance Coordinators.
  • Validates evaluation ratings of Student Support Services Supervisors, School Counselors, School Social Workers, and Student Assistance Coordinators.
  • Assumes the orientation and mentor responsibilities of all novice Student Support Services Supervisors, School Counselors, School Social Workers, and Student Assistance Coordinators.
  • Leverages Student Support Services Supervisors, School Counselors, School Social Workers, and Student Assistance Coordinators to reach maximum implementation of District approved curricular guides and intervention strategies by providing monthly and quarterly ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Synthesizes all Student Support Services achievement reports and provide a comprehensive review and presentation at various forums throughout the school year.
  • Develops local and federal budgets to support programming incentives and events that foster student growth academically, behaviorally, and personally/social emotionally.

II. Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment

  • Serves as the District's leader and expert in the area of Student Support Services.
  • Authors, updates, and furnishes rigorous K-12 Student Support Services curriculum guides, programming, events, and resources to the District.
  • Leads the District's adoption committees and process ensuring all curricular materials and supplemental resources are fully vetted; meeting State standards (NJSLS) and the diverse needs of all students.
  • Develops a comprehensive strategy to guarantee an accurate inventory and timely distribution of all resources.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Bilingual and ESL services, and the Director of Special Education to ensure curriculum guides, resources, and assessments are tailored for all learners.
  • Collaborates with all District Directors to ensure curriculum guides, resources, and assessments are aligned to State standards and result in interdisciplinary opportunities.

III. Organizational Leadership

  • Establishes and executes organizational systems and strategies to monitor School Counselors, School Social Workers, Student Assistance Coordinators, and District Supervisors.
  • Develops and monitors strategies for high-level collaboration among school communities.
  • Communicates effectively and maintains a positive disposition in all circumstances to ensure an outcome that promotes student academics, behavior, and social emotional development, and District success.
  • Develops Memorandums of Understanding with outside organizations/agencies to further enhance student supports, experiences, and outcomes.
  • Arranges professional development and conferences to enhance the skill set of district administrators and support staff to further develop student achievement and post high school success.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services.

IV. Student Support Services Improvement Plan

  • Engages collaboratively in the school-wide and District-wide Student Support Services effort to build a shared vision and supportive culture, identify common goals, and monitor and evaluate progress toward those goals.
  • Participates actively as a Student Support Services team to improve tiered supports and student achievement.
  • Participates actively as part of School-Wide Support Teams, giving feedback on Student Support Services practice, examining student work, analyzing data from multiple sources, making decisions to improve student learning, and being accountable for student learning in the area of Student Support Services.
  • Reports results of improvement plan effectiveness to Principals as well as Assistant Superintendents, and the Deputy Superintendent on a regular basis.
  • Helps design and participates in school and/or District professional development activities to improve Student Support Services.
  • Helps design and participates in parent and family workshops to enhance Student Support Services learning at home and school.
  • Engages in professional learning to enhance his/her knowledge and skill in Student Support Services.
  • Contributes to the knowledge and skills of School Counselors, School Social Workers, Student Assistance Coordinators, and District Supervisors and Directors, Department Chairpersons, Principals, Assistant Superintendents, and Teachers to advance professional practices in Student Support Services.

Salary, Terms, And Affiliation

  • Salary: The salary range for this position is $156,000-$171,000.
  • Employment period: 12 Month Calendar.
  • Union affiliation: City Association of Supervisors and Administrators (C.A.S.A.).
