Qualifications/Requirements:
Applicant must:
possess a valid Ohio Education of the Handicapped certificate/license (candidates with multiple special education validations preferred or Intervention Specialist – Moderate to Intensive)
be aware of the social and emotional needs of each individual student
demonstrate the ability to identify individual student needs
creatively develop and implement integrated and functional activities to teach the content standards
effectively differentiate instruction
demonstrate the ability to plan and implement a variety of behavior management strategies
demonstrate the ability to efficiently use student data to determine individual needs, develop targeted learning plans, and monitor ongoing progress
demonstrate the ability to serve students with a variety of handicapping conditions as well as some at-risk students within an intervention or inclusion setting
strong communication and organizational skills
demonstrate the ability to be objective and flexible
participate in department, building and district professional development opportunities relating to the education of students with disabilities
supervise classroom aides and guide their work with students
demonstrate the ability to collaborate with parents, special and regular education staff, students, related service personnel, and community agencies in the delivery of services to students with disabilities
be acceptable to the Building Principal, Director of Student Services and Assistant Superintendent of Certificated/Licensed Personnel
