Regional Marketing and Communications Manager – Australia Pacific

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise
Sydney, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 7/27/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/26/2026

This role is based in Sydney, Australia.

Who we are

At New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), our purpose is to grow companies internationally – bigger, better, faster – for the good of New Zealand. Our global team works alongside ambitious New Zealand businesses, helping them navigate international markets, build connections, and accelerate growth.

With people working across multiple markets and time zones, NZTE plays a unique role in supporting trade and commercial success for Kiwi exporters. We are driven by ambition, curiosity, trust, honesty, and manaaki, creating an environment where people can make a genuine impact.

What you'll be doing

We have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Marketing and Communications Manager to join our Australia Pacific region, based in Sydney CBD. This is a senior-level role with both strategic and operational focus, connecting regional plans with delivery and helping shape integrated marketing programmes that support NZTE’s customer-focused outcomes across Australia and the Pacific.

Partnering closely with internal sector teams, Brand and Content teams in New Zealand, external agencies, market partners and NZ Inc stakeholders, you will translate strategy into action, manage priorities and maintain programme momentum. While this role does not have direct people leadership responsibilities, you will need to lead through influence, bringing people together across functions, markets and levels to deliver work on time, on budget and to a consistently high standard.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Shape and deliver integrated marketing, communications and customer programme plans that support regional priorities.
  • Lead programme planning, project delivery, budget oversight, process improvement and reporting across key initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted MarComms partner and advisor to senior internal and external stakeholders across a complex organisation.
  • Connect multiple activity streams into coherent programmes, identifying priorities, reducing complexity and proactively managing risks and opportunities.
  • Lead and influence across project teams, workstreams and stakeholder groups, providing guidance, clarity and momentum without direct line management responsibility.
  • Ensure all activity reflects NZTE’s brand standards, market needs, customer outcomes and stakeholder expectations.

What you'll need to be successful

We’re looking for a commercially minded, values-driven marketing generalist who enjoys operating at both strategic and operational levels. You will be comfortable switching between strategic planning and hands-on execution, balancing competing priorities and driving multiple customer-focused programmes in a fast-paced international environment.

You will bring strong integrated marketing programme capability, sound judgement, and the confidence to influence and engage across a diverse regional network. Success in this role will come from your ability to build credibility quickly, align senior and operational stakeholders, and lead delivery through relationships rather than formal authority. You’ll be collaborative and team-oriented, while also bringing an assertive approach that helps keep priorities clear, workstreams moving and delivery outcomes on track.

You'll bring:

  • Strong operational and project management capability, with experience translating strategy into practical plans and delivered outcomes.
  • Experience developing and delivering integrated marketing programmes across events, digital channels, communications and customer initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence in a matrix or complex stakeholder environment, gaining alignment and driving outcomes Budget management, process management and continuous improvement experience, with the ability to simplify complexity and prioritise effectively.
  • Strong engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence, coach, mentor and support delivery through others.
  • Exposure to customer-focused, sales-led or international organisations would be valuable, as would experience in internal communications and media and public relations initiatives.

Why you'll love working here

At NZTE, you'll join a highly connected global team united by a shared purpose. We encourage experimentation, continuous learning and collaboration, while giving our people the autonomy and trust to lead meaningful work that supports New Zealand businesses on the world stage.

This role offers the opportunity to operate at a senior level while remaining close to delivery, influencing programme direction and execution across a regional context. You’ll have exposure to complex stakeholder environments, high-profile customer programmes and work that intersects with government-related and NZ Inc partners, with the scope to make a visible impact while continuing to grow your own capability.
