POSITION TITLE: Assistant Bosun

REPORTS TO: Fleet Operations Manager

OVERVIEW:

The Assistant Bosun is a position based at the Harbour Court Clubhouse in Newport RI. This position will assist in the ongoing maintenance of the club’s fleet of Sonars, RC Signal Boat and RIBs. Occasionally this person will also assist where needed with the IC37 fleet. In addition to maintenance responsibilities, this position will assist the Fleet Operations Manager with on water support during Sonar regattas as well as provide launch support for waterfront operations.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

-     Hands on maintenance experience on sailboats and powerboats up to 30’.

-     USCG License – minimum launch operator designation

-     Boat handling skills on sailboats and small motorboats

-     Experience trailering and launching boats

-     Understanding of private club environment and core mission to support the value of membership in all activities

-     Punctual, effective worker 

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB TASKS

• Sonars: Assist with the maintenance of the club’s fleet of 22 sonar sail boats
• On water Event Support: Responsible for operating bosun rib during regatta days to support on water repairs of sonar fleet
• Preventative and regular maintenance of Sonar and powerboat fleet
• Launch Driving duties several days a week when regatta schedule permits
• Other tasks as directed
