Position Summary

Manage State and City government relations by coordinating university interactions with elected officials and government agencies. Work with university senior leadership and schools to develop advocacy priorities. Communicate priorities to state and city elected officials and government agencies. Communicate how state/city policies may impact institution, students and faculty. Coordinate the development of university funding priorities and application process, ensure that proper documentation and contracts are filed with relevant government agencies/offices. Oversee and manage student and faculty advocacy days at the state and city level. Work closely with university community affairs staff in Manhattan and Brooklyn to show how university programming, research, and partnerships provide economic and community benefits to state/city. Includes managing outside consultants and establishing leadership roles in member policy associations and advocacy organizations. Seek opportunities for NYU faculty to serve as a resource to government, including serving on government commissions/working groups and testify before legislative committees.

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor's degreePreferred Education:Master's or law degree.Required Experience:7 years of relevant experience with advocacy, educational policy, or national politics or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Experience:Experience working in New York legislative or government agency offices.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills. Strong writing, research, analytical, and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with elected officials. Familiarity with city and state grants' legislation and regulations. Ability to travel and work evenings. Strong team player willing to mentor young professionals.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $154,000.00 to USD $194,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
