Maintenance Technician
Position Summary
As the Maintenance Technician, you will oversee all industrial maintenance operations for optimal results and support daily production as defined by Manager. You will lead by example and are responsible for planning, preventative and predictive maintenance of machinery and equipment, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, and maintenance shop functions. You will prioritize safe work practices and providing quality services to all departments.
- Scheduling and assigning work orders and proactive maintenance tasks.
- Performing inspections and perform maintenance work to ensure quality.
- Perform electrical, mechanical and civil repairs as needed
- Identifying and implementing a proactive maintenance strategy that ensures efficient operations.
- Developing company policies and standard operating procedures for all maintenance work.
- Ensuring that all maintenance processes are consistent with industry regulations and OSHA standards.
- Creating preventative maintenance procedures and checklists.
- Efficient computer skills.
- Maintain a strong floor presence.
- Troubleshoot and document mechanical/electrical issues. Notify General Manager of any issues resulting in downtime greater than 30 minutes.
- Follow the Good Manufacturing Practices of New York Sugars at all times and ensure all other personnel in the facility are also following Good Manufacturing Practices
- Actively participate in New York Sugars Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Program by completing all necessary steps within the program and reporting any variations to the General Manager.
- Follow and enforce all policies and procedures as outlined by New York Sugars handbook (e.g. GMPs, attendance, etc.).
- Actively participate in departmental cross training.
- Provide a positive work environment.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives including SOP creation/enhancement, safety, and quality.
- Take initiative to learn all areas of production.
- Complete auditing responsibilities in a timely and complete manner.
- Attend required meetings/events.
- Follow Safety procedures and support safety team.
- Provide a safe working environment.
- Familiarity with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Mobilize for on call needs after hours
- Flexible to work a standard shift with occasional preplanned schedule flexing to support business needs
- Repair and rebuild rotary and vacuum pumps
- Knowledge of electrical systems
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- 5 years’ industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, technical, military, or related environment.
- Must have knowledge/experience servicing and maintaining; production equipment, compressors, blowers, gearboxes, motors, HVAC, Fire systems, Steam Generation equipment, electrical panels, mechanical machine and trucks systems, forklifts etc
- 3 years’ people leadership experience in an industrial maintenance environment.
