The New York State Unified Court System is seeking a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Project Coordinator in the Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission in New York City.


The mission of the Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission of the New York State Courts is to eradicate systemic racism and bias from within the New York Court System. The Williams Commission seeks to promote diversity, equity and inclusion within the judiciary, legal profession, and court workforce. This position works under the direction of the Williams Commission Executive Director, and Assistant Deputy Counsel and is responsible for developing and planning Williams Commission programs, facilitating training on diversity, equity and inclusion, coordinating outreach to the community, and disseminating information to the media and the public.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing, planning, and managing programs and conferences on issues of diversity and racial and ethnic fairness in the courts and legal profession.
  • Overseeing outreach efforts and serving as a liaison to community organizations, educational institutions, advocacy groups, and religious organizations.
  • Supervising the work of subordinate personnel.
  • Analyzing data and preparing conclusions, recommendations, and written or oral reports.
  • Advising on communication strategies.
  • Drafting articles and quarterly newsletters.
  • Overseeing the creation and publication of brochures, reports, and other media materials.
  • Assisting with press releases related to the Commission’s programs, policies, and initiatives.
  • Maintaining the Commission’s website and social media platforms.
  • Some travel throughout New York State is required.


Qualifications: One year in the Principal Court Analyst title; or Master's degree in Public or Business Administration, or a similar field from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of relevant experience; or An equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in Publisher, PowerPoint, and website management software is preferred.


Excellent project management skills, ability to plan and organize system wide events, research and writing skills, oral and written communication ability, ability to write clear and concise prose, experience working in a fast paced, high energy and flexible team environment are desired. Must be team-oriented and be able to work with all levels of management and maintain confidentiality, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ability to prioritize work, meet strict deadlines and be highly productive. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement diversity and equal justice initiatives, practices, and programs are essential requirements for this position. Knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods, ability to design and format a newsletter.


Base Salary: $94,386 $4,920 Location Pay
