Position Summary
Responsible for the development and management of employee recognition and special events that enhances engagement, improves retention, and boosts performance. The primary purpose of this position is to centralize and manage all operational aspects of NYSTRS-Employee Engagement Program. This role is all about creating a positive and motivating work environment. As an Employee Engagement Coordinator, you'll be the champion for employee well-being, designing and implementing initiatives that boost morale, engagement, and productivity. The Employee Engagement Coordinator will plan, develop, and manage all aspects of system-wide Employee Engagement Program. The Employee Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for conceptualizing ideas, creating programs, operating within budgets, and liaising with vendors and department management.
The incumbent will work closely with the Event Coordinator and Training and Development department.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five years of relevant professional experience OR
- Associate degree in hospitality, public relations, or related field AND three years of relevant professional experience.

- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail with the ability to multi-task under pressure.

Job Duties
The duties of the Employee Engagement Coordinator include, but will not be limited to, the following:
- Administer all current informal employee recognition programs, including Movie Ticket Awards, VIP Scratch-Off Program, NYSTaRS.
- Manage and plan NYSTRS formal employee recognition programs, including the Excellence Awards and Service Awards.
- Develop and implement new formal and informal employee recognition programs that will foster a positive work environment that is reflective of NYSTRS’ culture & values.
- Oversees employee discounts routinely seeking out new online tickets, establishing a network of vendors to provide additional discounts to our employees, the effectiveness of services and makes ongoing recommendations for improvement based on employee feedback.
- Routinely monitors the effectiveness of events and makes ongoing recommendations for improvement based on employee feedback.
- Work with Executives and Managers to assist in the development of departmental engagement activities and events.
- Promote the engagement and recognition resources available to staff through email and the Intranet.
- Assist with other events and projects sponsored by the Engagement & Events unit as needed.

Salary Range
$86,698 to $113,121
