Duties Description
Implement and maintain IP networks, including routing protocols, network traffic, and access control.
Maintain, repair, test, configure and install various communications equipment with associated networking equipment for systems used by State Police and partner agencies.
Coordinate network maintenance activities with vendors and partner agencies.
Troubleshoot and repair faults in assigned network systems.
Maintain, repair, test, configure and install cellular and satellite mobile network systems.
Travel throughout New York State will be necessary for training, special events or to provide command post support.
Perform such other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent and six (6) years combined experience in IP Networking, microwave system maintenance and/or land mobile system maintenance,
AND
A valid Driver’s License.
An Associate’s Degree in an applied science, engineering or a related field may substitute for two years of experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in an applied science, engineering or a related field may substitute for four years of experience. Completion of an advanced vocational training course, including completion of specialized military training, in a related field may be considered in lieu of an Associate’s Degree.
Preference will be given to candidates who can lift and carry 50 pounds.
Minimum qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
