Duties Description

Are you ready to start your Social Work career with New York State? New York City Children's Center is recruiting for a Licensed Master Social Worker to provide professional social work services to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

As a Licensed Master Social Worker, you will provide professional social work services to individuals with mental illness including:

• Functioning as the primary therapist for a clinical caseload; including working collaboratively with multidisciplinary treatment team to complete initial assessments, treatment planning, providing treatment, and discharge planning.
• Providing individual, group, and family therapy as well as crisis interventions as needed.
• Facilitating thorough discharge planning and complete discharge follow-up including outreach to outpatient programs and residential programs.
• Advocating for youth and families to obtain community-based linkages with additional support services to meet their needs.
• Participating in facility initiatives and committees.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they are licensed and currently registered by New York State as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).

OR

Candidates within State Service can be considered transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

This position is eligible for a Downstate Adjustment of $4,000.
