Job Responsibilities :
The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Psychiatrist 3, M-8, position that will serve as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for OMH. In this role, the incumbent provides advice and counsel concerning clinical and medical issues; provides clinical direction and supervision to the Medical Directors in the OMH Divisions of State Operated Adult Services, Children and Families, and Forensic Services; and oversees all Central Office assigned Psychiatrists. Reporting to the Commissioner, and as a member of the Commissioner’s Executive Cabinet management team, the CMO provides medical and clinical leadership across OMH, and vision, advocacy, and policy for high quality mental health care and treatment.

Minimum Qualifications :
Candidates must possess a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State; certification in psychiatry by the ABPN; and two years of post-board certification experience as a member of the psychiatric staff in a psychiatric hospital and / or in the psychiatry department of a general hospital, one year of which must have included clinical supervision of other psychiatrists, psychiatric residents, or fellows.
Continued employment as a Psychiatrist 3 is dependent upon current licensure and registration by New York State to practice medicine and certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Loss of licensure and registration may result in removal from employment.
In order to be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and / or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program). If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program), you may be terminated from your employment.
If appointed, you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.
