Minimum Qualifications
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
Non-competitive Minimum Qualifications
One year of full-time clerical or paraprofessional experience in an office or organization which deals with housing, real estate, or property management related activities. Thirty semester credit hours of college study may substitute for the required experience.
Competitive Minimum Qualifications
Must be immediately reachable on the Civil Service list or eligible for transfer.
70.1 Transfer Qualifications
One year of permanent or contingent permanent in an eligible title for transfer determined to be similar by Civil Service. For transfers, a list of approved titles is available through Civil Service GOT-IT at https://careermobilityoffice.cs.ny.gov/cmo/gotit/. The GOT-IT site will inform you if your title is transferrable.

Duties Description
Under supervision, and after receiving initial and ongoing training, the employee will be responsible for primarily one, but sometimes more than one of the following duties:
- Case intake – assisting in the examination and filing of closed cases sent by the processing units, related labeling and box creation, related HUTS computer entries.
- RE3 – records retrieval-assisting in examining incoming requests from staff for case files, orders, rent control records, related searches in the file rooms and computer data bases, related data entry and communications to requesters, related distribution of records.
- Disposal of records – assisting in the retrieval of files for disposal in accordance with retention schedules, related data base searches, data entries, examination of files and orders, related communications, and work with the vendor to remove and destroy the files.
- Scanning – assisting with scanning of orders, reports and case files as directed, related computer entries.
- As directed, photocopy files and related mailing.
