The Department of Financial Services is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Data Analysis Specialist in the Economic Research unit within the Research and Innovation Division. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Minimum Qualifications
Non-Competitive: Seven years of experience* in data visualization, statistical models and data mining tools.

Salary: The starting salary for this position is $86,681 with periodic increases up to $109,650
Positions located within the New York City metropolitan area, as well as Suffolk, Nassau, Rockland, and
Westchester Counties are also eligible to receive an additional $4,000 annual downstate adjustment.

Duties
The Department of Financial Services is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Data Analysis Specialist in the Economic Research unit within the Research and Innovation Division. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Leads and oversees primary data duties for critical agency regulatory reporting to facilitate research, evaluation, and analytical studies relating to various economic factors;
- Assembles large and complex financial data sets from multiple sources to address regulatory needs using various analytical and statistical approaches;
- Reviews and monitors quality of data submissions by entities, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending relevant actions to management;
- Maintains database integrity by entering, verifying, and backing up data in coordination with management;
- Participates in the development of key materials for senior leadership briefings and decision-making; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrable competence working with large datasets; including importing, merging data, and data validation;
- Excellent communication skills, including project management skills;
- Proficiency with R Studio and Python;
- Familiarity with FFIEC reporting, Federal Reserve Reporting, and regulatory agency supervisory structures;
- Expertise with bank regulatory data, including bank call reports, CAMELS ratings, and public agency reporting;
- Highly motivated and effective working autonomously and as part of cross-function teams; and
- Ability to multi-task across projects and maintain attention to detail.

- Substitution: An associate’s degree may substitute for two years of general experience; or a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of general experience. A master’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, may substitute for one year of general experience; or a Ph.D. in these fields may substitute for two years of general experience.
