Organization Overview: The New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NYSADV) is a statewide nonprofit membership organization supporting and advocating for local domestic violence service providers and allies who are committed to ending domestic violence. Founded in 1978, we achieve our mission through activism, training, prevention, technical assistance, leadership development, and legislative advocacy.


NYSCADV serves as the information clearinghouse, primary point of contact and resource center on domestic violence for the state of New York. Our organization is responsible for supporting the development of policies, protocol and procedures to enhance domestic violence intervention and prevention. This also includes providing education and specialized support for domestic violence service providers statewide.


Position Title: Systems Advocacy Project Manager

Responsible To: Deputy Director Status: Full-time, exempt, salaried Location: Remote within New York State


Position Overview: The Systems Advocacy Project Manager is responsible for coordinating the organization’s criminal legal system, family court, and criminalized survivor programs and initiatives. This person will manage training, consultation, and support for domestic violence service providers, and engage with state agencies and other stakeholders throughout New York State.

Position Responsibilities: The Systems Advocacy Project Manager will be responsible for assigned project management, training, and capacity building tasks including the following:

·      Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholder assistance, support, and training needs

·      Coordinate trainings on criminal legal system, family court, expert witness, and criminalized survivors, and related topics for domestic violence advocates, allied organizations, and systems professionals

·      Provide specialized assistance for domestic violence service providers and other stakeholders via phone, email, virtual meetings, and on-site/in-person meetings

·      Develop materials related to criminal legal system, family court, and criminalized survivor issues, such as training curriculum, handouts, website content, etc.

·      Establish and build relationships with state and local government systems and community-based stakeholders

·      Coordinate assigned grant program activities including drafting proposals and reports related to project activities

·      Ensure all assigned grant deliverables are met

·      Represent NYSCADV in committees, stakeholder meetings, work groups, and task forces as assigned

·      Provide individual and systems advocacy as opportunities arise or as requested

·      Provide logistical and production support for NYSCADV virtual and in person activities as assigned

·      Work with Deputy Director to secure additional financial support for program initiatives, and develop and implement new programs and special projects as funding becomes available

·      Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed


The Ideal Candidate will have:

The ideal candidate will have several years of project or grant management experience; a strong understanding of domestic violence services in New York; knowledge of criminal and family court systems; and experience with curriculum development, and training. The ideal candidate will also show initiative, excel in a collaborative environment, exhibit grace under pressure, and demonstrate a strong commitment to statewide coalition building.


Qualifications/Expectations:

·      Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in program/project management

·      Experience working on issues of domestic violence and a strong understanding of New York State’s

domestic violence landscape

·      Experience working with or advocating within legal systems preferred

·      Experience working with survivors who have been criminalized preferred

·      Demonstrated experience designing and delivering virtual and in person professional trainings

·      Confidence facilitating learning across multiple formats (virtual, in-person, written, and consultative)

·      Experience managing grant programs, coordinating with funders and creating grant reports

·      Proficiency with Zoom, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), online learning platforms, and project management tools

·      A collaborative, self-directed approach and the ability to build strong relationships across sectors

·      Comfort level in a fast-paced environment with the capability to meet deadline driven timelines

·      Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities

·      Ability to develop mutually beneficial working relationships with community partners, government agencies, funders, and NYSCADV staff members

·      Integrity, professionalism, and a deep commitment to equity and inclusion

·      Valid driver’s license and willingness and ability to travel as needed


RESIDENCY: NYSCADV’s main office is located in Albany, NY, and candidates who reside anywhere in the state of New York will be considered for this position. At the time of this posting, NYSCADV is operating with a distributed team who works remotely with pre-scheduled in-person meetings. The role will require some travel throughout New York State as well as occasional national travel.


COMPENSATION: Starting salary will be in the range of $72,000-$75,000 commensurate with skills and experience. NYSCADV offers excellent benefits including health, dental, retirement, and life insurance and generous leave policies.
