The Office of Special Investigations (OSI) is seeking qualified candidates for consideration to serve as an Investigative Analyst (IA) in the Analysis Unit (AU). The OSI Analysis Unit specializes in tactical intelligence analysis to support and advance OSI’s criminal and administrative investigations. The Analysis Unit further performs statistical and trends analysis regarding violence or misconduct within correctional facilities to identify trends and organization risk on a statewide, regional, and per-facility basis. The Analysis Unit produces and disseminates bulletins, white papers, and memos to support OSI executives, as well as departmental and facility-based leadership, in efficient decision-making and policy recommendations. The Analysis Unit generates data, reports, and findings that will enable decision-makers within the Department to make more informed risk-mitigation decisions based on an “intelligence-led” model. OSI is expanding the Analysis Unit to meet the analytic needs of not only OSI, but also the DOCCS Executive team and facility Superintendents.

Minimum Qualifications For This Position Include
- Appropriate licensure and certifications (including being or becoming a peace officer qualified to carry a firearm).
- Ability to pass an OSI background check.
- Two years of investigative / analytical experience; however, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, crime analysis, intelligence analysis, homeland security or a closely related field can serve as a substitute. An associate degree in the aforementioned concentrations can serve as a substitute for one year of experience.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrative evidence of integrity, ethical behavior, and the ability to conduct, fair, thorough, and impartial investigations.
- Preference for candidates that can demonstrate a proficiency in statistical analysis, intelligence analysis, writing, and public speaking.
- If the person is located in an OSI office besides the Albany office, travel to Albany as needed will be necessary.
- Ability to be on-call, travel for trainings, and deploy across the state to meet the Office’s operational needs.
