The New York State Assembly Majority (Democratic), located in Albany, has an opening for a full-time writer position.
Duties will vary by assignment, but include writing a range of legislative communications (press releases, printed materials, newsletters, etc.) and proofreading, researching and analyzing legislation and legislative programs to support writing assignments
Qualifications: This is an entry-level position. Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree; excellent written communication skills and strong analytical abilities; strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft applications; the ability to work independently and under time pressure; and availability for extended work hours as required to meet legislative deadlines. Desirable qualities include a strong interest in legislative communications, the legislative process, public policy and familiarity with the structure of state government.
The salary is $50,000 per year and it includes a full benefits package.
