Scheduler and Community Aide for NYS Assembly Member Kwani B. O’Pharrow
Position Overview:
The Scheduler and Community Aide will play a crucial role in supporting Assembly Member Kwani B. O’Pharrow by managing the Member's schedule and facilitating community outreach efforts. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, a commitment to public service, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced office environment. The Scheduler and Community Aide will report directly to the Chief of Staff or Deputy Chief of Staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Scheduler Duties:
- Manage the Assembly Member's calendar, scheduling appointments, meetings, and events with constituents, stakeholders, and colleagues.
- Coordinate logistics for events, including venue arrangements, technology setup, and materials preparation.
- Prioritize and organize meetings based on the Member's goals and community engagement needs.
- Communicate schedule changes to internal and external stakeholders promptly.
- Assist in preparing briefing materials for the Assembly Member in advance of meetings and public appearances.
Community Aide Duties:
- Serve as a liaison between the Assembly Member's office and the community, fostering relationships with constituents, community organizations, and advocacy groups.
- Coordinate community outreach initiatives, including town halls, workshops, and events to inform residents about important legislation and resources.
- Gather feedback from the community to inform the Assembly Member about local concerns and priorities.
- Prepare reports and summaries of community interactions, identifying trends and issues for consideration by the Assembly Member and staff.
- Assist in drafting correspondence, newsletters, and informational materials to keep the community engaged.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree, 60 credits or currently registered in College with a major in Political Science, Public Administration, or any related field preferred; relevant experience will be considered.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling software.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Office environment with frequent interaction with constituents and stakeholders.
- The position may require occasional travel to Albany.
Salary:
$35,000 - $40,000 Depending on experience.
