Miranda Family Fellowship - Production Management

The Production Management Fellow will be treated as an extension of the Associate and Assistant Production Management Team. They will engage with the full PM team, designers, stage managers, and the production department to see projects from development through opening.

Departmental Responsibilities: 

The Production Management Fellow will be an integral member of the Production Management team by:

  • Assisting in the creation of production calendars and technical load in schedules
  • Assist in the tracking of cross-departmental progress on shows assigned
  • Shadow Production Managers to learn scope and how to plan shows from the first design meeting to opening night
  • Support in the tracking of Production management Budget Expenses
  • Learn strategies for balancing artistic needs with financial realities
  • Be present and attentive in department, institutional, and artistic meetings, potentially taking notes and tracking information

Professional Development/Training Events 

  • Attend weekly Fellow meetings with Public Theater staff members
  • Attend monthly professional development workshops, as well as additionally scheduled networking and/or training events
  • Full participation in professional development activities assigned by both The Public and The Miranda Family Fund
  • Meet monthly with assigned Public Theater mentor
  • Attend all Miranda Family Fellow events and meetings as required by the program.

Candidates should possess: 

The ideal Production Management Fellow should be a proactive, highly motivated, and detail-oriented individual. Important soft skills include flexibility, strong time management, and eagerness to engage with the production process at every level. The candidate should have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Prior technical theatrical knowledge and enthusiasm about outdoor theater is encouraged but not required.

This is a non-exempt position according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.

2026 Public Theater Miranda Family Fellowship

The Miranda Family Fellowship at The Public Theater offers full-time, paid training opportunities to recent graduates from the CUNY system for a duration of seven months. Made possible by the generous support and partnership of the Miranda Family Fund, this program ensures that each Fellow is engrained within a specific Public Theater department related to their chosen discipline, providing them with robust professional development and network-building opportunities to help launch their careers.

The 2026 Public Theater Miranda Family Fellowship includes:

  • A structured, full-time, training opportunity at The Public Theater where Fellows will be assigned day-to-day tasks/long-term projects in support of and in collaboration with their selected department
  • Mentorship by an experienced staff member of The Public Theater
  • Seminars, workshops, and additional networking opportunities designed to increase understanding of The Public’s operations and programming, guide professional development, and connect to the larger performing arts community
  • A salary of $28,846 disbursed bi-weekly at an hourly rate over the seven-month fellowship period at The Public
  • Access to healthcare benefits

In addition to the invaluable training The Public Theater will provide, the Fellows will receive ongoing professional development and peer networking opportunities as part of the larger network of Miranda Family Fellows over the course of two years. Such opportunities include mentorship with industry leaders and leadership coaching, so the Fellows can identify and explore their specific areas of interest within their field, as well as receive valuable career guidance and tools for navigating predominantly white organizations. The Fellows will also join the Miranda Family Fellows network at additional seminars and workshops to help further learn how to be advocates for change in the industry.

The departments available for the 2026 Fellowship include:

  • Casting
  • Production Management
  • Producing (Joe’s Pub)

The Public Theater portion of the Fellowship will take place Monday, February 2, 2026 – Friday, August 28, 2026.
The Miranda Family Fellows portion of the Fellowship will conclude at the end of 2028.

Applications must include:

  • A completed application form
  • 1-page cover letter that details:
    1. Why you want to work at The Public Theater in your selected department
    2. What preexisting and/or foundational skills you would bring into the role
    3. What you hope to learn during the fellowship and how it applies to your long-term professional goals

  • Contact information for 3 references (at least 2 references should be professional and/or academic)

Applicants must:

  • Have a Bachelor's degree conferred within the City University of New York system between December 2024 - December 2025.
  • Must possess U.S. work authorization upon date of hire for the length of the fellowship
  • Not be currently enrolled in a graduate degree or training program during the fellowship
  • Be available to work up to 40 hours a week in their assigned department (please note: some departments may require periodic evening and/or weekend availability) for the duration of the fellowship
  • Attend Miranda Family Fellow events, meetings, and workshops as required by the program

The deadline for completed applications is 11:59pm on November 26, 2025.
All applicants will be notified of their application status no later than January 17, 2026.
