About the Department
The Strategic Partnerships & Runner Products Department includes the Business Development and Strategic Partnerships team, the Runner Products and Services team, and the Professional Athlete Group.
The Business Development and Strategic Partnerships team secures and manages mission-aligned partnerships providing revenue, value-in-kind and strategic support for advancing NYRR's mission. The team collaborates across NYRR departments to maximize partnership value and runner engagement through strategic programming. Additionally, the department oversees licensing of NYRR IP rights, including production of co-branded product and apparel.
The Runner Products and Services team enhances the training, racing, and community experience through in-person runner training, tailored customer service, and community engagement at the NYRR RUNCENTER. NYRR’s Official Charity Partner Program includes more than 600 official charity partners raising over $80 million annually, while the International Tour Operator (ITO) Program spans 100 countries and brings more than 13,000 international runners to the TCS New York City Marathon each year.
The Professional Athlete Group develops and manages programs for professional and sub-elite runners, including wheelchair athletes, working closely with athletes, agents, coaches, and federations, and leading recruitment strategies for elite participation in NYRR events.
About the Position
Job Responsibilities (primary and secondary duties):
Assign race bibs using NYRR registration system and distribute race premiums at weekly races
Assist with event set-up and break down the bib & premiums assignment station.
Attend day and evening week/weekend events as necessary to assist with all customer-service-related issues and inquiries.
Work with event staff when needed to ensure all customer inquiries are answered and each runner is satisfied
Engage with runners and spectators and provide accurate information about the specific event and New York Road Runners
Be a brand ambassador! Create a fun experience through positive runner interactions.
Demonstrate passion and commitment to the NYRR brand and core values: vision, excellence, teamwork, passion, innovation, challenge.
Job Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year Customer Service experience
Prior event, race day or fitness experience is a plus but not required
Skills and Attributes:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
Strong attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Punctual and dependable with a strong work ethic.
Must be flexible, proactive, and able to adapt to changing race day needs.
Passion for NYRR, community events, fitness, or running culture.
Candidate should be organized team player with a personable manner, excellent customer service and problem-solving skills, and should have the ability to work with a diverse group of staff and participants
Must be self-motivated, results oriented; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Multi-lingual skills a plus
Education & Certifications:
Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Schedule:

Flexibility for weekend and holiday events is essential as race days typically occur on weekends and include early mornings.
Shift start times vary and can be as early as 4am.
Hourly Rate: $22.00
Salary : $22 - $80
