Position Summary
Administrative volunteers provide administrative support for clinical and non-clinical departments at the New York Proton Center. Volunteers will assist department staff with a wide range of tasks depending upon needs of the individual department. These may include but are not limited to clerical and organizational tasks and patient experience initiatives.
Duties And Responsibilities
Administrative volunteers may be assigned one or more of the following duties depending on departmental needs:
Front Desk & Customer Support
New York City is a major metropolitan city and is home to world-renowned cultural offerings. Outdoor attractions include a variety of parks and greenspaces including Central Park, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, the Bronx Zoo, and the High Line; multiple waterfronts on the island afford convenient access to scenic activities. Cultural activities abound in Broadway, Madison Square Garden, Lincoln Center, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art; iconic sites include the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, and the One World Trade Center; championship teams in every major league sport; shopping abounds in SoHo, Fifth Avenue, Chelsea Market, and the Fashion district; and dining offerings are second to none. The salary range and/or hourly rate displayed is a determination of base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. NYPC takes into consideration several factors in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skillset, experience and training, licensure and certifications, internal equity and other business and organizational needs.

Front Desk & Customer Support
- Support Patient Coordinator team in greeting and welcoming patients and visitors in a courteous, professional manner.
- Effectively triage patient and customer requests and issues as they arise to appropriate team members and departments.
- Manage visitor sign-in and issue badges.
- Assemble new patient welcome packets.
- Enter data into electronic databases or spreadsheets with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Assist with tracking and organizing inventory of promotional items.
- Assist in planning and coordinating special events, meetings, or community outreach initiatives.
- Staff NYPC information tables at community events.
- Assist NYPC and NYPC Foundation staff with writing and preparation of grant proposals.
- Perform copying and document organization.
- Comply with all NYPC policies related to Privacy Rules established under the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
- Perform other job-related duties, as assigned.
- Dependable and compassionate with a high level of professionalism
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Basic office computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, email, data entry)
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with patients, families, visitors, and staff
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient and company information
- Completion of NYPC volunteer training and annual online training modules related to safety, confidentiality, and compliance
