The New York Post provides readers with the best in News, Sports, Pop Culture, Lifestyle and Entertainment – with signature wit, irreverence and authority averaging 90 million unique viewers a month. Over the past 224 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.
The New York Post is seeking an experienced Senior Lifestyle Editor to work across our lifestyle verticals, including sex & relationships, fashion, parenting, travel, food & drink, science & technology and general interest.. The successful candidate will play a huge role supporting the Lifestyle Editor guide the section — a highly experienced copy editor, as comfortable editing deeply reported features as they are quick-turnaround news hits, and skilled at mentoring writers.
The candidate will also be a non-stop font of ideas, spot trends before they go mainstream and be driven by setting the lifestyle agenda. They will be experienced in mining social media and competitive news sources for the best leads — and also know how to turn online and real-life chatter into stories that give depth to the Post’s lifestyle section and put it ahead of the trends.
This role will report to the Lifestyle Editor.

Base Pay Range: $85,000 - $100,000
We’re committed to offering competitive and flexible compensation to attract top talent. This pay range reflects our good faith estimate for the role and may vary based on a candidate’s experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors.
For bonus-eligible roles, targets are determined based on multiple considerations, including market benchmarks and individual contributions.

Responsibilities
- Pitching an endless font of innovative and agenda-setting daily trending and long lede feature ideas.
- Assigning and editing trending daily stories, as well as long lede stories.
- Overseeing the production of a number of daily stories — from writing headlines in the Post’s signature wit to ensuring SEO best practices to coordinating photo shoots.
- Analyzing web traffic to drive audience engagement and meet goals of the department.
- Monitoring the news to look for opportunities to add depth to our headlines through original reporting, first-person perspectives and expert explainers.
- Mentoring reporters on the team.
- Coordinating closely with departments such as photo, video, commerce and audience development.
- At least 5 years editing in a news or fast moving magazine environment, preferably in a lifestyle department.
- Excellent news judgement and the sharpest of editing and writing prowess.
- Your finger on the pulse of the topics and trends of interest to the Post audience.
- Proven understanding of what makes a story successful across digital platforms - from headlines to visuals and optimization.
- Proficiency in WordPress or similar CMS.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple stories, writers, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Comfortable making fast, decisive editorial calls in a breaking news environment.
- Collaborative team player who can work across departments including visuals, social, and audience development.
- Familiarity with analytics tools and performance metrics to help guide coverage and strategy.
