Role Description
The Laboratory Safety Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the safety protocols for laboratories across campus. Key responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, overseeing compliance with regulations, managing health and safety inspections, providing safety training to staff and students, and investigating accidents or safety concerns to ensure appropriate follow-up actions. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Hawthorne, NY.
Qualifications
- Expertise in Health & Safety and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) protocols
- Experience in Occupational Health and conducting Safety Training programs
- Proficiency in Accident Investigation and incident reporting processes
- Strong communication and organizational skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local safety regulations and standards
- Ability to work on-site and respond promptly to safety concerns or emergencies
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar credentials are a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related field required; advanced degrees preferred
