Job Summary:
Assists in the accomplishment of serving safe, nutritious, and appetizing meals to staff/residents/patients in a clean, safe environment. All responsibilities must be performed according to State mandated rules and regulations. Each employee’s job responsibility is related in some form to this purpose. Considering every position is a vital link to the successive chain of events that promote a quality food service, it is critical that every employee perform their responsibility to this standard.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
The following statements reflect the duties considered necessary to describe the essential functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Performs specifically assigned responsibilities in the actual assembly and delivery of trays to residents and patients.
2. Breakdowns work area after tray service. Labels, dates, freezes or puts away and restocks all food as necessary.
3. Stores all foods according to State mandates – removing dust, box flaps, and dirty bins as necessary. Rotates all stock on a FIFO basis.
4. Cleans, sanitizes, and organizes complete work area as cleaning standard dictates. Performs all cleaning assignments as posted on the extra-cleaning list.
5. Maintains a polite, positive, and conscientious disposition when serving any and all customers.

EDUCATION REQUIRED (Minimum):
High school diploma or equivalent
Food service experience preferred but not required. On-the-job training available.
Adherence to the NYS Department of Labor regarding allowable working hours if the employee is 17 years of age or under.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Extreme temperatures and humidity for prolonged periods. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time. Unpleasant conditions when working in dish room.
Mental Demands:
- Able to handle multiple priorities and act swiftly, accurately, and professionally in all situations. Must be able to work with strict deadlines and highly confidential information. Must be able to deal with sensitive issues and discussions with employees
- Sit, walk, stand and minimum lifting. Standing and walking for extended periods of time per shift.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and prepare food.
- Reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and twisting while preparing food and accessing supplies.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 25–50 pounds, including food products, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
Status: Full Time - Part Time - Per Diem
- Frequent contact with staff, visitors, and other ancillary personnel from the facility Departments.
