Gold & Precious Metals Buyer

About the Position
We are looking for a motivated, trustworthy, and personable individual to join our team at a growing precious metals and jewelry buying store in Wantagh, NY.
Our business specializes in buying gold, silver, platinum, jewelry, watches, coins, and other precious metals from customers. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with people, has strong attention to detail, and is eager to learn about precious metals, jewelry, luxury watches, and the buying process.
Previous experience in gold buying or jewelry is a plus, but not required. We are willing to train the right person.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and provide a professional, welcoming experience
- Evaluate gold, silver, platinum, jewelry, watches, coins, and other valuables
- Learn how to identify karat, purity, weight, and market value
- Operate testing equipment, including XRF technology
- Weigh and document customer items accurately
- Explain evaluations and pricing clearly and honestly
- Build trust and long-term relationships with customers
- Stay informed about current precious metal market prices
- Handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional store environment
- Assist with inventory, merchandising, and daily store operations
- Follow company procedures for purchasing, documentation, and security
- Provide excellent customer service while helping customers understand the value of their items
