Job Overview: The New York Giants are seeking a season-long Performance Nutrition Intern to support the Director of Performance Nutrition in delivering high‑quality nutrition services to athletes. This hands-on role provides foundational experience in professional sports nutrition through direct involvement in food service operations, athlete counseling support, testing, research, and game day operations. The position requires daily on‑site presence and collaboration with culinary, athletic training, strength & conditioning, sports science, and performance staff.
Responsibilities/Functions:
Fueling & Food Service Operations
- Assist with daily fueling station operations, including inventory, stocking, receiving, and food safety standards.
- Prepare hydration and fueling products for practices and games (pre-, intra-, post‑training).
- Prepare shakes, smoothies, and recovery items; ensure snacks and hydration options meet athlete needs.
- Coordinate with culinary staff on meals, snacks, and product procurement.
- Support travel nutrition logistics, including packing trunks and hotel setup for home/away games.
- Lead home game nutrition operations, including locker room setup and post‑game meal logistics.
- Maintain “media-ready” cleanliness in all nutrition‑designated areas.
Testing, Research & Administration
- Assist with body composition, hydration, sweat testing, and relevant data collection.
- Document fueling station usage, athlete requests, and educational touchpoints.
- Stay current with sports nutrition research and contribute to innovation-based projects.
- Collaborate with performance staff (athletic training, S&C, sports science, mental health).
- Perform additional duties across the broader performance department as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Nutrition or a related field required
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required
- Previous experience in athletics (football preferred)
- Knowledge of NFL compliance and HIPAA
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
