Solar Service Technician

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Solar Technician to join our team at New York Electric and Solar. This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting solar energy systems across various sites, including commercial and residential projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical background, construction site experience, and familiarity with high and low voltage systems. This position offers opportunities for professional growth in the renewable energy industry and requires a safety-conscious approach to work at heights and on rooftops.

Responsibilities

• Install solar panel systems on rooftops and ground-mounted sites, ensuring proper fixture installation and secure mounting.
• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and electrical diagrams to accurately assemble and troubleshoot systems.
• Perform electrical wiring using both high voltage and low voltage components in compliance with NEC standards.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and roofing equipment to complete installations efficiently and safely.
• Conduct system inspections, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance of solar energy systems.
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time while maintaining safety protocols.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a commercial electrician or in electrical work related to construction sites, roofing, or renewable energy projects.
• Knowledge of high voltage, low voltage wiring, schematics, blueprint reading, NEC standards, and fixture installation.
• Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, roofing techniques, plumbing basics, and construction practices.
• Ability to read technical diagrams accurately and interpret blueprints for system assembly.
• Construction site experience with safety awareness when working at heights or on rooftops.
• Ability to operate forklifts or similar equipment is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues effectively.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and at heights on rooftops or scaffolding. This position is integral to advancing sustainable energy solutions while providing a dynamic work environment that encourages skill development within the renewable energy sector
