Title:Dance Instructor
Basic Function: Facilitate implementation of program activities for a group of elementary school-aged summer program participants while creating a nurturing environment that fosters the creativity and educational advancement of the children.
Location: X469 – 2347 Morris Avenue Bronx, NY 10468
Hours: Part-time: 16 – 20 hours per week (Monday thru Thursday between the hours of 1pm – 5pm)
Program Description:New York City Mission Society’s Summer Power Academy is a seven-week enrichment program that engages students in experiential learning activities and immersive field trips throughout New York City. Participants improve their STEAM skills and prevent summer reading loss - setting them up for year-round success and supporting long-term empowerment. (This position is Fully In-Person and begins July 2026, and ends August 2026)
Principal Responsibilities:
· Create a supportive and nurturing group environment.
· Ensure the safety of all children.
· Teach a variety of dance styles and routines to groups of children according to the program schedule.
· Develop and implement lesson plans.
· Prepare materials and handouts for lessons.
· Create and coordinate student showcases related to dance.
· Attend team and group supervision meetings.
· Attend professional development training as required by the agency and program contract.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Minimum associate’s degree in a related field or two years of experience working with students (elementary or middle-school aged) required.
· Must have experience teaching dance to children in a school, after-school or summer camp setting.
· Ability to teach a wide range of dance styles is required.
· Must have strong interest in working with children.
· Must have the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of program and school staff.
· Must have excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and organizational.
· Experience overseeing and managing a group of young people.
· Experience creating lesson plans preferred.

Salary & Benefits: Hourly wage of $30.00 per hour.
