Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Middletown, NY
Hours/Days: 4/10 hour days, Mon, Wed-Fri 8a-6p, RDO Tues
Organization: New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)
In This Role, You Will
- Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician.
- Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues.
- Monitor and chart vital signs, document in the medication administration record.
- Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge.
- Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol.
- Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness.
- Teach patients and caregivers families regarding treatment expectations.
- Monitor patient status during the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive medications.
- Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.
- Educate patients and caregivers about follow up care and emergency services.
- Valid New York State RN License.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with an EMR (preferred).
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching.
- Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Salary: Starting at $50 per hour
