New York Bus Sales, the largest authorized Blue Bird School Bus dealership in New York State currently has an immediate opening for an Outside Parts Sales Representative in our current Chittenango, NY location.  New York Bus Sales will be moving to its new location in Syracuse, NY sometime in mid- June 2026.  


New York Bus Sales is a full-service dealership offering sales, service, parts, and graphics. We provide safe, dependable buses for our customers and professional services to meet their needs.


Job Summary


The primary function of the Outside Parts Salesperson is to increase parts sales and market share and carry out all planned parts sales activities in their assigned sales territory. This is predominantly accomplished by visiting customers to build long term business relationships, identify opportunities to sell parts and close on those opportunities through a combination of transactional selling and establishing long-term lines of business. This position must act as the eyes, ears, and mouth of G-Tech Parts and is required to communicate any barriers to business with Department management and employees and must help to identify and execute resolution of those barriers.


Supervision


The Outside Parts Salesperson develops and performs a variety of complex duties within established guidelines. This position holder must strategically plan and execute their efforts within the framework provided by Department management. Most duties are completed independently and require the maximum amount of personal accountability and self-motivation.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide best in class customer service.
  • Keep current on product updates, new products, and new product lines.
  • Meet and exceed Department and territory objectives such as sales quotas, gross profit requirements, etc. by taking a proactive approach to achieve those goals.
  • Be aware of, assist, and be the primary leader in the completion and submission of customer bids and other quotations for sales opportunities within assigned territory.
  • Manage assigned territory and accounts to increase parts sales and market share.
  • The Outside Salesperson is expected to be the authority for all things pertaining to their assigned customers. They are required to know the customer’s business, purchasing habits, and all aspects of their relationship with the Department. Position holder should expect to be called on to give presentations and reports relating to their customer to Department Management. Proactively look for sales opportunities among assigned and potential customers. Ensure the Department is maximizing the potential market share of the customers total business and searching for ways to unseat the competition.
  • Strategically plan and prioritize efforts, schedule, and sales tactics to maximally utilize time and resources.
  • Regularly visit customer locations to establish, maintain, and grow relationships. Additionally, keep in front of the customer by communicating via phone and email.
  • Work with manufacturer and other representatives to increase customer relationships and sales success.
  • Provide customers a consistent effort by maintaining a routine and scheduling time with customers.
  • Identify and maintain a roster of potential clients who are not officially assigned to the territory to deal with customer attrition and accounts that show little successful sales results.
  • Give presentations regarding the Parts Department and its offerings to current and potential clients.
  • Work with Department management and other employees to ensure customer needs are met. This includes coordinating with the inventory team to ensure new lines of business or frequently used parts are properly stocked in local inventory in adequate quantities.
  • Make full use of the CRM platform – Zoho
  • Record all customer visits and other significant contact with the customer before the end of the business day that the contact/visit occurred.
  • Record follow ups, business quotations in the system to ensure team collaboration and that all tasks are properly executed.
  • Maintain current and accurate contact information for each account such as customer name, title, email address and phone number.
  • Learn and regularly use business intelligence tools such as Power BI to review purchasing trends, customer service and other needs related to assigned customers.
  • Follow established Company policy and Department procedures and workflows to complete tasks.
  • Assist other work areas when needed.
  • Overnight travel may be required to meet established territory plan strategies.

Full-time, Monday thru Friday, Day shift.

Requirements

EDUCATION / REQUIRED EXPERIENCE


College Degree or Equivalent Work Experience preferred.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Demonstrate good organizational skills.
  • Make good business decisions in accordance with established procedures and policies.
  • Sufficient speech and hearing for regular, professional, in person, and telephone communication with all customers, other employees and supervisors.
  • Understand oral and written company and industry correspondence sufficiently to communicate with customers and participate in all other parts Department activities.
  • Write or type sufficiently to communicate with customers and vendors.
  • Perform numeric calculations accurately when calculating prices and sales for customers.
  • Must have current NYS driver's license and provide proof of insurance carried on personal vehicle while performing company business.
  • Have transportation to/from other NYBS facilities, customer locations, seminars, workshops to perform duties as required.
  • Be safety conscious and demonstrate the ability to follow prescribed safety practices to prevent injuries to self and others.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Maintain manual and finger dexterity sufficient for frequent use of computer and grasping of small parts.
  • Frequently lift and handle parts weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift and handle parts weighing 26 to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift parts weighing over 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Stand, walk, balance, bend/stoop, crouch/kneel reach and push/pull sufficiently for occasional need to move throughout the parts Department when pulling parts.
  • Climb sufficiently to access all levels of the parts Department.
  • Maintain vision sufficient to frequently use a computer screen and read technical manuals.

Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
